An individual who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and 10.

The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.

The accused was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.

She stated the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.

The legal representative added: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, with valid cause.

"They resolved" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."

The legal counsel explained objects including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his family member notified the authorities about his concerns.

She said the man proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.

The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

The prosecutor explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement once more.

She said the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
